Description:
The Watcher is an ancient creature. None know it's precise origins, though it is speculated it is in reality an enigmatic 'Elder God', albeit a weak one in comparision. It lives deep underground and only surfaces at night. It's pale, rubbery body is a sickly brown in color, and changes according to it's mood, similar to an octopus or a squid.
Combat Style: The Watcher is a rather unassuming creature, and does not usually seek out conflict. However, if it must fight, it usualy hides just beneath the surface of the earth, softening it's foe up with it's dazzling array of specialty attacks, before rising to finish the foe off with it's Central Eye's power. Ever cautious, it always spends time surmising a foe's capabilities before it commits itself.
Special Qualities:
Deadly Garden: The Watcher surrounds itself in a veritable 'garden' of tentacles and eyestalks. Hundreds of these appendages sprout out of the ground around it in a 1000 meter radious. The average length for these appendages is usually 500 meters, though the limbs closer to the Watcher (usually within 150-200 meters of it) can stretch to 1000 meters. If destroyed, tentacles usually regenerate withint 15-20 secounds. Because it's body is literally made up with these tentacls, The Watcher is considered an anchored monster. It cannot be pushed, shoved, or knocked back without completely uprooting it's entire rubbery mass. Also, it's many eyestalks give it all-around vision, so it is next to impossible to sneak up upon the creature.
Variable Properties: The Watcher's rubbery flesh is able to take on a physical property similar to a diamond's hardness. It usually makes it's many tentacles as hard as spears, to skewer it's foes or batter them senseless. It can also use this ability to fortify it's own defenses. However, the more of it's body it hardens, the more fatigued it becomes, so it usually only uses this ability when it has to. It's odd DNA structure also makes it impervious to absorbing or draining attacks, and the offender trying such moves is usually sickened after trying to ingest the deadly ichor that is the Watcer's blood.
Alien Mindset: The Watcher's mind is totally and unforgivingly alien. Any creature attempting to probe it's unspeakable thoughts is immediately subjected to such a high degree of psychic trauma that they immediately pass out.
Shun the Light: The Watcher is highly sensitive to natural sunlight.
Central Eye: The Watcher's Central Eye acts as a supernatural detector or radar. It allows it to see in any conditions, and pierce any illusions. It also prevents it from being weakened by illusiory or artificial light. It can even allow him to detect invisble or cloaked objects.
Burrow: The Watcher can burrow through solid earth with fluidity and alacrity. It accomplishes this by altering it's structure and seeping through the solid ground. This makes it very difficult to catch once underground.
Weakness: The Watcher's soft body, when not hardened, is unusually weak to slashing attacks.
Special Attacks:
Eye Ray- A small, thin beam fired with low power from an eyestalk. Though lacking in strength and poor in firing rate, The Watcher can literally fire off hundreds of these beams in succession.
Burst Ray- This is a powerfull beam of charged energy, fired from The Watcher's central eye. It usyally employs this move after it has significantly weakened its foe.
Flash- This is a blinding flash of light emmitted from The Watcher's many eyestalks at once. It's rapidity and intesnity is enough to send even the most tenacious Kaiju staggering in a blind daze.
Gaze of The Watcher- Sending out strong sub-psychic waves from it's Central Eye can cause any creature The Watcher turns it's gaze onto to slowly become paralyzed and froze in it's spot. If in the air, the creature immidiately drops.
Optic Grenades- These are a slow moving, but highly concussive, orbs of energy fired from The Watcher's eyestalks. To make up for their very poor firing rate and subpar speed, these orbs home in on their target.
Optic Barrage- The Watcher's all-out offensive move, where it charges it's Burst Ray to maximum and opens fire with the powerfull ray and all it's eyestalk's rays. It only has adequate energy to rain down such withering fire twice in any single conflict.
origin/history: None are quite sure when or where The Watcher originated. In ancient times, it was worshipped as a god, with sacfrifices offered in it's terrible name. Then, it's people were decimated by a war they couldn't win, and The Watcher moved on. up until recently, it had been inhabiting a deep, subterranean world, filled with bizzare animals, descended from dinosaurs and other primitive creatures. Now, though, something has attracted it to the surface world. Once more, The Watcher rises, passing it's gaze over the planet....
